Job Summary

Job Title: Part‑Time Second Grade Paraprofessional
Location: Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic School – St. Louis, MO

Position Summary

Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic School is seeking a supportive and dedicated Part‑Time Second Grade Paraprofessional to assist the classroom teacher in creating a positive, faith‑centered, and academically enriching environment. This role provides essential support to students and teachers by reinforcing instructional goals, assisting with daily routines, and helping maintain a safe and welcoming classroom. The ideal candidate enjoys working with children, demonstrates patience and professionalism, and is committed to the mission of Catholic education.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the second grade teacher with daily instructional activities and classroom routines.
• Support students during lessons, small‑group instruction, and independent work.
• Provide individualized assistance to students who need additional guidance or reinforcement.
• Help maintain a safe, orderly, and nurturing classroom environment.
• Supervise students during transitions, recess, lunch, and other non‑instructional times as assigned.
• Prepare classroom materials, supplies, and learning resources as directed by the teacher.
• Communicate respectfully and effectively with students, teachers, and staff.
• Uphold school policies, safety procedures, and expectations for student behavior.
• Contribute to a positive school culture that reflects the values of Our Lady of the Pillar Catholic School.

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in a school, childcare, or parish setting preferred.
• Ability to follow directions, support instructional goals, and work collaboratively with teachers.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Patience, dependability, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive environment.
• Willingness to support the mission and values of Catholic education.
• Must meet Archdiocesan compliance requirements, including Safe Environment training.

The ideal candidate demonstrates a warm, calm presence and a genuine desire to support students’ academic and personal growth. This part‑time role requires reliability, flexibility, and a spirit of service toward students, families, and staff. The Second Grade Paraprofessional is expected to uphold the values of Our Lady of the Pillar and contribute positively to the school community.
