Summary

We are looking for a Bilingual Early Learning Trainer to join CCAC’s team providing virtual classes to childcare providers. This position will facilitate a variety of licensing-required classes to childcare professionals across Washington state. Trainers moderate self-paced classes using a learning management system and teach virtual classes using Zoom or other online platforms. Team members will often facilitate live virtual classes on 3-6 evenings and/or weekends each month.

We are currently hiring one part-time Spanish language trainer. Applicants interested in 15-20 hours per week are encouraged to apply. We are accepting applications from candidates throughout Washington state and will consider remote, hybrid, or in-person employment for the right person. The starting range for this position is typically $27.20-$33.04 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. A wage enhancement of $1.00 per hour will be added for the regular use of Spanish in this position. An additional wage enhancement of $.50 per hour is added for the regular use of an additional language beyond English and Spanish.

Duties

Main responsibilities of this position:

Trainers are responsible for teaching live virtual and/or self-paced classes on a variety of topics (i.e., responsive environments, positive interactions, family partnerships, health and safety). Responsibilities may include some or all of the following:
  • Present live, online trainings in a clear and engaging manner, using Zoom or similar online platform
  • Moderate self-paced classes, responding to discussion boards in a timely manner and providing additional technical or curriculum support when needed
  • Communicate with students frequently via email, including before, during, and after classes
  • Collaborate with a team of trainers to share information and improve training methods and content
  • Use a variety of online training tools to engage participants and enrich the learning experience (i.e., discussion boards, Google Suite, whiteboards, breakout rooms)
  • Schedule office hours and small group meetings with students as needed to support their learning outside of class time
  • Maintain records of students' attendance and participation, using Excel spreadsheets, MERIT, and other learning management systems

Requirements

Qualifications:
  • Minimum A.A. in Early Childhood Education or a related field; B.A. prefered
  • Two years’ experience working with young children in a group setting
  • Must be bilingual fluent in Spanish and English and have excellent verbal and written communication skills in both languages
  • Knowledge of birth to five development and childcare practices that are developmentally and culturally appropriate
  • Knowledge of the learning needs of adults and experience teaching groups of adults
  • The ability to apply social justice and racial equity lens to teaching
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and/or weekends
  • Experience using a computer for record keeping and communication
  • Able to work both independently and in a team
Other things to know:
Trainers must:
  • Be approved as a MERIT Trainer (or have the ability to become approved)
  • Reside in Washington state
  • Successfully pass a thorough background check
  • Be able to work some evenings and weekend, approx. 3-6 times per month
  • Have proof of COVID-19 vaccination

Our ideal candidate is someone committed to relationship-based professional development and the field of early childhood education. A thorough understanding of best practices in early learning (i.e., responsive caregiving, culturally appropriate practices, and evidence-based goal setting) and experience as an adult educator is a plus. We are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal skills and experience supporting adult learning. Experience providing online classes and/or experience as a mentor or coach of early childhood professionals is helpful. Our ideal candidate is bilingual (English and Spanish), can work both independently and as part of a team, and can effectively share information with adult learners from a variety of backgrounds.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is typically $27.20-$33.04 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. A wage enhancement of $1.00 per hour will be added for the regular use of Spanish in this position. An additional wage enhancement of $.50 per hour is added for the regular use of an additional language beyond English and Spanish.

Benefits: For all part-time positions, pro-rated paid sick, vacation, and holidays pay are provided. For positions over 20 hours per week, we provide health insurance (80% employer paid), dental, and vision beginning on the first day of the month following hire, and an employer paid retirement plan.
