Job Title: Plant Controller (NetSuite Systems) Location: Monterey Park, CA Shift: 8-5 flexible hours - 100% onsite Pay Range: $140,000-165,000 Employment Type: Full-Time/Direct Hire Insert Job Description Here We are seeking a detail-oriented, hands-on Controller to lead daily accounting operations while serving as the organization’s primary NetSuite subject matter expert. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with financial data, improving systems and processes, and collaborating directly with operational teams within a manufacturing environment.
This is a highly execution-focused position rather than a strategic finance or executive leadership role. The individual will be deeply involved in day-to-day accounting and system optimization, with meaningful ownership and impact.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Close
- Manage the month-end close process, including general ledger activity, AP/AR, inventory, fixed assets, and accruals
- Prepare accurate financial statements and internal management reports
- Maintain reconciliations and ensure financial records are audit-ready
- Assist leadership with budgeting and forecasting activities
Manufacturing & Inventory Accounting
- Oversee inventory accounting, product costing, and valuation within a contract manufacturing environment
- Maintain standard cost structures and perform variance analysis across materials, labor, and overhead
- Partner with operations teams to maintain accurate production and inventory data
- Support margin and profitability analysis across product lines
NetSuite Administration & Optimization (Primary Focus)
- Act as the internal NetSuite power user and day-to-day administrator
- Maintain system structure including chart of accounts, item records, BOMs, and inventory configurations
- Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, and saved searches
- Troubleshoot system issues and coordinate with external consultants when needed
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements
Compliance, Controls & Audit Support
- Maintain GAAP-compliant accounting practices and strong internal controls
- Assist with external audits and tax processes alongside outside partners
- Develop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation
- Support compliance requirements associated with regulated manufacturing environments
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with operations, supply chain, and leadership teams to improve cost visibility and reporting accuracy
- Translate financial insights into actionable recommendations for non-finance stakeholders
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across accounting and reporting workflows
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally within manufacturing or CPG environments
- Strong hands-on NetSuite experience, particularly within inventory and manufacturing modules
- Solid understanding of inventory accounting and cost accounting principles
- Experience managing or significantly contributing to month-end close
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, owner-operated environment with a lean team structure
Preferred - Experience within supplement, nutraceutical, food & beverage manufacturing
- Familiarity with contract manufacturing or private label models
- Prior experience as an Accounting Manager or Controller in a small-to-mid-sized organization
- CPA or CPA-track (not required)
