Pay: $110,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year

Location: On-site in Mansfield, CT (local candidates only — no relocation).Note: Must have 4+ years of Controller or senior accounting leadership experience and permanent U.S. work authorization. Construction accounting experience (job cost/WIP/progress billing) is strongly preferred.

Job Description

• Own monthly close, financial statements, and reporting for leadership visibility and decision-making
• Lead job cost accounting, WIP schedules, and profitability reporting by project
• Manage AR/AP workflows, billing, collections, and vendor/subcontractor payables
• Oversee progress billing and pay apps, including AIA-style billing where applicable
• Drive cash flow planning and forecasting to support project execution and growth
• Maintain internal controls, clean reconciliations, and accurate financial records
• Partner with PMs and leadership to improve cost tracking, variance analysis, and project financial discipline
• Support annual audit/tax coordination and provide documentation as needed
• Help evaluate and improve systems and processes (construction accounting software and workflows)

Qualifications

• 4+ years in accounting/finance leadership (Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager with full close ownership)
• Strong preference for construction accounting experience: job costing, WIP, progress billing, change order impacts, project margin tracking
• Strong Excel skills and comfort building clean, repeatable reporting
• Experience managing small accounting teams or owning end-to-end accounting operations
• College degree preferred (Accounting/Finance); equivalent experience welcomed
• Construction ERP/accounting system experience preferred (any of: Sage, Viewpoint, Jonas, QuickBooks Enterprise, etc.)
• Detail-oriented, hands-on, and able to communicate clearly with non-finance stakeholders
• Local to Mansfield, CT area and able to work on-site
• Permanent U.S. work authorization required (no sponsorship)
