Position Overview
The Cost Accountant will own manufacturing-based month-end close processes, analyze cost variances, support operational leadership with actionable reporting, and play a key role in maintaining and improving our standard cost structure across 10+ manufacturing departments.
Key Responsibilities
· Build, maintain, and analyze standard cost structures
· Own manufacturing month-end close including inventory transactions, WIP, labor absorption, capitalization, overhead application, and variance analysis
· Analyze and explain material, labor, and overhead variances to identify root causes
· Develop and deliver variance reporting to manufacturing leadership to improve operational performance
· Identify activity-based costing drivers and implement overhead allocation methods (direct labor hours, machine hours, etc.)
· Analyze and report on customer and product profitability to support pricing strategies
· Forecast the impact of raw material, labor, and process changes on product costs
· Support ERP system implementation or major system conversions, including documentation and internal controls
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
· Minimum of 5 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment
· Experience in a multi-facility manufacturing setting
· Proven experience implementing standard cost structures and manufacturing financial close processes in an ERP system
· Strong Excel skills with the ability to analyze large data sets
· Self-motivated, detail-oriented professional with a hands-on approach
