Cost Accountant | Wayland, MI

Salary Range: $69,000 - $103,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze manufacturing costs, variances, and profitability.
• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
• Perform detailed variance analysis for production costs, explaining deviations.
• Manage inventory costing and valuation, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
• Prepare regular cost reports and financial statements for management review.
• Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes related to production expenditures.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
• 3+ years of cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation.
• Ability to analyze complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

Bonus Qualifications

• Advanced Excel skills (e.g., Power Query, VBA) or experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies
• Professional certification such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant)
• SQL proficiency for data extraction and analysis
