Executive Director

West Hartford, CT | Reports to COO | $100,000 to $130,000 + Performance Bonus

Why This Role Exists

We are looking for someone who wants to run a business, not just manage a building. The Executive Director at Aviva Senior Living in West Hartford is the person who sets the tone, makes the calls, and owns the results. You report to the COO, but day to day you operate with the autonomy of someone who has full accountability for the community's success. The census, the culture, the financials, the care, and the team all flow through you. What You Will Own

This is not a role defined by tasks. It is defined by outcomes. In your first twelve months, success looks like this:

  • •A community operating at or above 90% census, achieved by hands-on partnership with your sales team and a sharp focus on outreach and conversion.
  • •A cost structure that reflects smart, deliberate decisions. You will read the financial reports, understand every line, and find the opportunities others have missed.
  • •A team that feels led. Associates in sales, nursing, wellness, dining, maintenance, and housekeeping will know what is expected of them and feel supported in delivering it.
  • •Residents and families who trust you. The relationship between this community and the people it serves is built one conversation at a time. You will be visible, accessible, and genuinely present.
  • •A growing market footprint. You will bring energy and strategy to community outreach, building the referral relationships and brand awareness that fill the pipeline for years ahead.

What You Will Get to Use Here

You have built things. You have led people through hard moments and good ones. You understand that senior living is both a care business and a real business, and you do not see any tension between those two things. Here is what this role asks of you:

Your leadership instincts. You will oversee a diverse team and you know that each person needs something slightly different from the person running the place. You mentor without micromanaging. You set expectations and follow through on them.

Your sales mind. You understand the funnel, you can coach a team through a difficult conversation with a prospective family, and you know that occupancy is not a passive outcome. It is earned every week through consistent effort and smart strategy.

Your financial literacy. You are comfortable in a budget meeting. You can read a P&L, identify where performance is slipping, and make adjustments before a problem becomes a crisis.

Your care for people. Not performative care. Real care. Families in the senior living world are navigating one of the most stressful transitions of their lives. You approach that with patience and genuine empathy, and it shows in how you lead your team to do the same.

Experience in senior living, healthcare administration, or hospitality management is strongly preferred. Multi-site or general manager experience is a plus. What matters most is that you have run something and you have made it better.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000 depending on experience. In addition, there is a performance-based bonus structure tied directly to community outcomes, because we want your upside to be real when you deliver results. Additional benefits will be discussed during the interview process.
