Summary

Work Hours: Three days/week 8:30AM - 12:30PM (May cover Lunch Bunch until 1pm depending on staffing needs) (September - May) Hourly Rate: $14.50/hr

Assist Lead Teachers in providing a loving and safe environment for students throughout the preschool day.

Duties

o Assist Lead Teacher with material/resource preparation prior to student arrival.
o Assist Lead Teacher in arranging indoor and outdoor space to facilitate creative play, motor-skill activities, and safety.
o Support Lead Teacher in establishing and facilitating guidelines for behavior, and procedures for maintaining order
o Serve meals or snacks in accordance with nutritional guidelines.
o Aid Lead Teacher in selecting, storing, and inventorying classroom equipment, materials, and supplies (Supply orders may be turned in to Director).
o Maintain the bulletin boards and art displays and use them as teaching tools.
o Communicate well with and accept duties from the Lead Teacher.
o Attend monthly staff meetings/trainings. Coordinate activities with the other teachers and director.
o Clean classrooms, table surfaces, and toys daily.
o Ensure portable telephone and walkie-talkies are put in the classroom each day.
o Assistant teachers may be asked to float to other classes when necessary. Assistants will need to work out the schedule with all Lead Teachers. Floating duties may include: assisting with toileting and diapering time, helping set up snack time, helping move children from the classroom area to the MAC or Playground, other duties as necessary.
o Supervise children both inside and outside.
o Assist in planning of monthly classroom parties, holiday programs, and graduation ceremony.
o Run the classroom while the Lead Teacher performs student assessments.
o Serve as substitute teacher when Lead Teacher is not available. Follow lesson plan provided by Lead Teacher.
o Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops in order to maintain and improve professional competence.
o Maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.

Requirements

At least one year of childcare experience
