A postdoctoral fellow position is available at University of Missouri, School of Medicine. The candidate will join the laboratory of Dr. Smita Saxena at the NextGen Precision Health, University of Missouri.
Our research focuses on uncovering fundamental mechanisms governing neuronal network dynamics and how pathological interactions within these networks initiate and propagate disease. Key areas of research include the investigation of circuit-level mechanisms of neurodegeneration, activity-dependent synaptic proteome and interactome remodeling, modulation of circuit function by inflammation and the dissection of pathways intersecting between cellular organelles in maintaining neuronal homeostasis and functional networks. Our research spans synaptic, circuit, and network scales , emphasizing mechanistic insight in physiologically relevant behavioral contexts. We combine state-of-the-art experimental and analytical approaches , including in vivo two-photon calcium imaging, optogenetics, electrophysiology and cellular imaging-based assays.
The fellow will work closely with the Pl and others on the research team. We support the career progression of the fellow. We will provide guidance on career development and encourage the fellow to apply for postdoctoral fellowship as well as other career stage appropriate funding.

Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in neuroscience, systems biology, or related discipline, with a strong publication record. Ideal candidates will have strong expertise in vivo two-photon calcium imaging (neuronal or vascular systems); electrophysiology experience is a plus. Candidates must have an interest in integrating experimental, computational, and theoretical approaches. Excellent communication and scientific writing skills are a must.
