Summary/Objective:
The internship for graduate students provides supervision from PDE Level II Certified School Counselor(s). Options for internships include two semesters (full year) or 1 semester (half year) starting in the beginning of the school year to satisfy required experiences and hours. Internship sites include access to K-12th grade experiences . This internship is designed to meet the minimum hourly requirements for the intern to receive certification in the Pennsylvania

School Counseling Internship experiences include direct and indirect school counseling opportunities. Delivery of services in which the intern provides includes classroom lessons and center-based sites. School Counselor interns use a Multi-tiered System of Support (MTSS) to support all (ASCA) which focus on Academics Social Emotional Development and Career-Planning by aligning delivery of services to the ASCA Mindsets and Behavior standards and comprehensive school counseling program.

Essential Functions:

• Delivery of Classroom counseling lessons
• Provides Group and Individual counseling related to academics career-planning and social emotional development.
• Provides and assesses peer mediation conflict resolution bullying prevention and interventions.
• Crisis Risk and Threat Interventions
• Provides professional development for staff and educational partners.
• Transcript assessments
• Provides prevention and intervention.
• Attends IEP meetings and team meetings to advocate collaborate and consult in the best interest of the students.
• Attends and advocates within IEP meetings specific to Transition Planning to support Alignment to ACT 158.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands to finger handle or feel. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
