Cost Accountant | Zeeland, MI

Salary Range: $67,000 - $100,000 depending on experience

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain accurate standard costs for raw materials, labor, and overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing costs and prepare detailed cost reports, identifying variances and trends.
• Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation for raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
• Conduct thorough variance analysis for production costs, explaining deviations from standard or budget.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process by providing cost data and analysis.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements in manufacturing operations.
• Calculate and analyze product profitability, providing insights for pricing and strategic decisions.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3-5 years of progressive cost accounting experience within a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, cost accounting principles, inventory valuation, and variance analysis.
• Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with major ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics 365)
• Proficiency in data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau)
• Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles or Six Sigma methodologies
• Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation
